Third grade is buzzing with excitement for Tuesday evening's Owl Prowl. Mr. Glassman just left my room after teaching both third grades about owls we can find in Indiana. He even gave us a sampling of what a great horned, barred, and screech owl sound like. Please be at St. Pat's Park by 6:00 for dinner. Thank you for donating all the items for our dinner. The weather looks like it will cooperate. The evening should be a hoot!!!!
On to other news.....
Reading: I will be focusing on writing skills this week, and will not be doing the Time for Kids story in the reading book. So...there will not be any story questions this week. Parents, stop cheering!
Language: As for grammar skills, we will be learning about singular and plural possessive nouns. We will also be focusing on what a personal narrative is, looking at third grade samples of writing and evaluating them (from the website www.thewritingsite.org), learning how to decode a writing prompt. We started today, and the class did a wonderful job with this.
Math: Tomorrow, Tuesday, we will have our test over rounding. We will then move on to Chapter 4 which will work on addition and estimating sums.
Science: After we finish studying owl pellets, we will be studying mealworms and observing their life cycle.
Have a wonderful week and I'll see most of you at the Owl Prowl!
