Weekends Are Way Too Short!!
Where does the time go? It seems that no matter how hard I work to get things done over the weekend, I just can't everything done. It was a good weekend though. I worked on my Blessed Mother garden planting mini roses. It looks very nice. Oh well...here we go again with another week.
Here a few reminders for the week:
Scholastic Book Clubs: Please place your orders online or send in your orders to me with a check payable to Scholastic Book Clubs. The September order will be placed next week. There are some really great deals in the flyers I send home at the beginning of the year and some online too. Please check it out and consider ordering.
Owl Prowl: The Owl Prowl will be on Tuesday, October 19th. If you have not sent in your response form please do so as soon as possible. The evening will be a hoot!
Now for a quick run-down of the upcoming week:
Spelling: Thank you for your help at home with heading papers correctly. I think we had 100% of the class head all of their papers correctly.
Reading: This week's story is a short one. It is a Time for Kids article called "Champions of the World". Please look over story questions before your child turns them into the tray. All questions must be answered in question-answer form. Example: What color is your shirt? The color of my shirt is green. The class is doing a very fine job with this so far.
Math: We will be wrapping up Chapter 2 this week and having a test before the end of the week. Look for the pre-test to come home to help with studying for the test. Math facts are coming along bit by bit. Try to find five minutes a day to drill whether it be flash cards, calling out facts in the van on the way to soccer, or printing out practice timed test from www.superkids.com The effort will really pay off!
Science: This week we are going to learn about the parts of a seed. We will be using lima beans to observe this. After doing our observations, we will be making lima bean planters out of baggies, hang them on the window, and watch them germinate and grow into plants. You might want to save an old container at home. The plastic coffee cans work best. When our activity is done, the children always want to take them home to plant.
...and last of all
Everyone in 3N would like to wish Lily a very happy birthday!!!!
