The CKS Post Office is Open for Business!

This past week the CKS Post Office officially opened for the school year. All of the postal employees for the week did a very nice job facing, checking, canceling, sorting, and delivering the mail. It is always so exciting to hear the frequent clank of the mailbox outside of my room and see all ages of children so enthusiastic about writing letters. Parents, you are welcome to write letters, too. If you are interested, write me a note or an email to send home a postal directory. If you write a letter, please use my homeroom address for a return address.  Our address is:
124 Owl Prowl Lane
Crown, IN 00345
Now on to other news:
Spelling:  There will be a test as normal this week. The words 3X each will be due on Thursday, and the packet will be due on Friday.

Reading:  The story for this week is called "The Little Painter of Sabana Grande". Story questions will be sent home on Monday and will be due by Friday. Please encourage your child to use the reading book when answering these questions. I am getting quite a bit of spelling errors that should be avoided if the book is being used.

Language:  We worked very hard on our personal narratives all last week. By Friday we made some good progress with our first paragraphs. I am hoping to get all three paragraphs finished by the end of this week for you to be able to read them at conferences. The kids really are getting the hang of how to pump up their writing!

Math:  We are diving right into Chapter 5, which is on subtraction with regrouping. It is absolutely important that subtraction facts be memorized by this point of third grade. Most of the mistakes being made by my students are accuracy issues. Please work on this at home either with flash cards or by going to www.superkids.com

Science:  This week we will be focusing on adaptations of animals, either for food or for protection.

 Barnes & Noble Book Fair!
Don't forget that our CKS Barnes & Noble Book Fair will be this Thursday, November 18th. This is a great opportunity to do some Christmas shopping and support Christ the King.

 Happy birthday Mia!

I am looking forward to meeting with each of you at conferences next week. Thank you for you continued support this school year.
