Today marks the second Sunday of Advent. This Wednesday, December 8th, is the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
As a service project for Advent, our school will be have a one day change drive for our sister parish in Jalchatra, Bangladesh on Wednesday. Any spare change you are willing to donate would be greatly appreciated.
Here is an update of our week:
Reading: This week we will be reading the play "Pecos Bill". This usually is one of the kid's favorites. As some of you may know, every Spring third grade performs a play in our classroom. Later on this year, I will give the students the opportunity to vote if they would like to perform Pecos Bill or another story called King Wacky.
Language: Our grammar lesson will be on all three verb tenses. We will be continuing our work on writing our narratives. They are coming along quite nicely.
Math: This week we will begin working on money. This will involve counting money, comparing money amounts, adding and subtracting money, and counting back change.
December Book Report Project: Last week your child was given the directions for the December book report project. This month every child is to read two books. The project is to create a new cereal based on his/her book. The project is due the last day before Christmas vacation, December 21st. Upon returning from break the students will put on cereal commercials based on his/her cereal and book. The children can be as creative as they would like. Here are the dates and times for the commercials:
Jan. 5th 9:00-9:30
Jan. 6th 9:30-10:00
Jan. 7th 9:30-10:00
Please check with your child what day he/she chose to go. You are most welcome to come and watch the commercials.
Happy birthday to Michael who celebrated his birthday recently!!!!!!!
